Q: What type of roofing materials do you use?

Our most common shingle would be an Architectural style shingle. This is an industry standard and we use nothing less than this. Our other two popular options would be an Aluminum Painted Standing Seam Metal & cedar shake shingles. A premium style roofing material with the performance and the extreme low maintenance to make it worth it. Cedar shake is a style that has been around longer than both shingles and metal. Cedar shake shingles bring a timeless aesthetic to any home and are most commonly found here in our historic districts in Lewes, DE.

Q: Can I remove ice from my roof?

With the right preparation we can help reduce the amount of ice build up on a roof. A Lot is considered when dealing with ice/ snow. Once we determined the style and best roof material the roof should be able to hold off and release ice/snow on its own. We would never recommend climbing and navigating a roof with a slippery slope.

Q: What are ice dams?

An ice dam is a large block of ice that forms on the lower edge of your roof. This ice is formed with the upper snow melting and freezing to the bottom of your roof. As it grows a reservoir is formed and water is held and pushed back into your single then home. The permanent solution to this would actually be insulation in the attic. When there isn't the correct amount of insulation during the winter when you are running your heat in the house, some of the heat escapes to the attic. The attic then warms the roof and melts that snow on your roof.

Q: How do you calculate the amount of shingles I will need for my roof?

To calculate the shingles and all the material needed we need to physically measure the building. Once these measurements are determined we can then provide an accurate and detailed material list.

Q: Why is there discoloring in my roof?

Discoloring comes from a couple things. The first most obvious is the abuse it has taken from the elements over the years. Nearby trees may also add to its discolor or allow the roof to grow algae. In some cases this color may be your actual shingles granules (Small rocks that build up the top layer of shingle) have been lost. This is important to pay attention to as the first layer is what is able to deflect the sun. Without this the sun will tear into the shingle and potentially case premature failure in the system.

Q: What kind of ventilation can I use on my roof?

9. The most popular roof vents on the market are:
a. Solar or powered fans
b. Static Vents
c. Ridge vents
d. Attic gable vents

Q: Will you work with my insurance company to help me move forward with my roofing job?

Yes, if you have been approved or need assistance in providing photos and a detailed report of the physical condition. We will communicate and we can provide all the necessary materials. We also work with insurance draws and allow our homeowners time to collect funds before, during and after their claims.

Q: What sets you apart from your competition?

At the end of the day when the work is completed, the roof is done, and the workers have gone home. Your home is still with us. We are a family owned and operated company established in 2006. We pride ourselves on how quick and personal we can become with the process. Giving us a call there is no pressure. It's like giving your neighbor a call. If you need us to come out at 5 o'clock in the afternoon and bring 7 different physical samples to make sure one of them matches up beautifully with your siding, we will gladly do so. This isn't a one stop shop, this isn't a big box company. We work along with you making the recommendations that help piece together what you're looking for. We don't advertise, so you will never hear us on the radio or on a billboard. We are Sussex County's very own roofing job that's been serving our shore for a bit over a decade.
